Biographical Information
I have been practicing Hatha Yoga as long as I have been signing…both for about 25 years.
Introduced to Yoga in my first year of university,I learned that when yoga is consistently practiced, life is smooth and sweet; decisions are wise and simple; eating is savoured and tasted; relationships (with self and others) is wholesome and real; health is balanced and appreciated.
Signing was learned first with my Deaf cousin, Lidia, and I have never looked back. I have been an interpreter with the Ontario Interpreting Services and Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Schools for the Deaf in both Ontario and British Columbia.
I am currently working with the BC Provincial Outreach Program teaching on a part time basis. In my free time I am building my passion of combining ASL and Yoga with 'Yoga PAH!'.
I taught "Deaf Yoga" at the Canadian Deaf Women's Conference at UBC this summer and was amazed at how ready the Deaf community is for accessible Yoga classes taught in sign language.
